Trip Report

Tent Ridge, with its horseshoe-shaped trail, feels like a rite of passage for every mountain enthusiast. As we embarked on our ascent, the initial dense woods offered a serene introduction, with spruces standing tall like nature’s sentinels.

Emerging from the forested segment, we were greeted by alpine meadows dappled with wildflowers—a vibrant tapestry against the raw, rugged mountains. Yet, the heart of the Tent Ridge experience lay ahead: the exhilarating ridge walk.

Scrambling up, at times using hands and feet, the sense of adventure was palpable. And with each elevation gained, the views turned increasingly panoramic. The Spray Valley lay sprawled below, with the shimmering Spray Lakes acting as nature’s mirror, reflecting the sky.

Navigating the ridge demanded respect for the mountain. It was both awe-inspiring and humbling, a delicate dance on a narrow path with sheer drops on either side.

The pinnacle of the journey, the summit of Tent Ridge, felt like standing on the rooftop of Alberta. A 360-degree view encompassed jagged peaks, emerald forests, and meandering waterways. Time seemed to stand still as we soaked in the magnificence.

The descent, while demanding caution, was accompanied by the golden hues of the setting sun, casting a surreal glow over the landscape and bringing our epic journey to a poetic close.

Recommendations

Begin Early: Due to its challenging nature and the duration it demands, an early start is advisable. It also allows for safer navigation through the ridge sections.

Safety First: The ridge walk and scrambles can be tricky. Ensure you have sturdy hiking boots, and consider bringing poles for added stability.

Stay Informed: Weather in the Rockies can be unpredictable. Check the forecast and be prepared with layered clothing and rain gear.

Capture the Moment: The panoramic vistas from the ridge are breathtaking. A camera is essential, but remember to be cautious when navigating and photographing.

Tent Ridge is not just another mountain trail; it’s a symphony of experiences that plays out with every step and every breath taken. As we descended, our bodies felt the fatigue, but our spirits soared high, carrying memories of a day when we truly touched the sky.

Best wedding venue in Canmore

My husband and I had our dream wedding here, which would not have been possible without the amazing Brooke and Lonny!! They are truly the best to work with. We planned with them for a year over email, sent 13 revisions of our wedding document, and countless other ‘Just one more question!’ emails. They were so patient with us and gave us wonderful advice/ tips! They are excellent communicators.
On the day of the wedding, they were nothing short of perfection. Brooke took care of all of the set up and small details, and adapted to some changes on the fly – really took the stress out of the day! I was impressed by her attention to detail. The day went so smoothly! And Lonny – the food was FANTASTIC! Everyone was raving about the food!! Thank you for taking care of us and ensuring we were all so well-fed during our stay! If you are wanting an intimate, beautiful, and stress-free wedding in the Rocky mountains, THIS IS THE PLACE. BOOK BEAR & BISON. Highly recommend!!!
