A view of Three Sisters Mountain.

Nestled in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, the town of Canmore is home to the iconic Three Sisters, a trio of peaks that are a must-visit for any traveler. Known individually as Big Sister (Faith), Middle Sister (Charity), and Little Sister (Hope), these peaks hold both cultural and geological significance. Here’s a guide on where and when to view these majestic peaks.

Driving or Walking to the Viewpoints

You can see the Three Sisters from almost anywhere in Canmore. However, there are a few standout locations:

  • Policeman Creek: This is one of the best spots to photograph the Three Sisters. To get there, park at the off-leash dog park just past the helipad on the Bow Valley Trail.
  • Canmore Bridge: Another easy place to see them is right from the Canmore bridge over the Bow River, near the public boat launch.

Best Lakes or Ponds for Reflections

Small Pond near Policeman Creek: A short hike down the Cougar Creek creek bed leads to a small pond with great reflections of the Three Sisters.

Best Time of Day While the Three Sisters are amazing at any time of day, the light shines best on them in the morning. Get up early to catch the sunrise there! In the summer, you can catch the first light hitting the Little Sister around 6 am, depending on the time of year.

Best Hikes for Viewing

Wonderful Stay!

A very nice and comfy room. Breakfast, prepared by Lonny, the owner and chef, was fantastic. Lonny is also a first-rate tour guide. We visited the Banff, Lake Louise, and icefield areas while staying here, and mostly followed daily activities recommended by Lonny.
